What is a 'POS'?

A POS is a Point of Sale System in a restaurant that is the digital heart of your business, replacing the old cash register with integrated hardware and software. Its primary function is to process customer orders and payments, but it also manages vital operations like sending orders to the kitchen, tracking your food and drink inventory, and generating reports on sales and performance. Essentially, it's a comprehensive tool designed to help you run your entire restaurant more efficiently and accurately, from the moment an order is placed to the moment payment is received.

What is a 'Middleware'?

Middlewares are software providers that act as a digital bridge or a translator between your POS system and all the different places where you receive online orders, such as Deliveroo. They facilitate the automatic synchronisation of orders and menu, usually in real time.

What can connecting (‘integrating’) do for you?

By integrating you can do the following:

  1. Automatically sync Deliveroo orders into your POS system in real time ( ‘Orders API’)

  2. Create and manage your menu from your POS system, as well as sync stock level changes in real time (‘Menu API’)

  3. Control opening hours, site status and more ( ‘Site API’)

Why connect your POS system or Middleware with Deliveroo?

Connecting or 'integrating' your POS system removes the need for manual entry of your orders received via Deliveroo tablet. As soon as customers place an order, we will send it to you via your Middleware or POS.

Similarly, every time you change the menu or stock levels on your POS system, it will automatically reflect on the Deliveroo Customer Order App without requiring any manual actions from yourself.

How to connect your POS system or Middleware with Deliveroo?

To connect (or ‘integrate’) you should first contact your POS system or Middleware (so they can onboard you to their systems). Once they are ready, you can follow the steps here to connect.
