What is barcode scanning on the Order Picker?
Barcode scanning is a feature on the Order Picker, which allows you to pick items by scanning an associated barcode in the system. See this visual "How-to" Picker Guide for complete overview and detailed visual instructions to help you navigate this feature.
Why should I use a barcode scanning instead of a swipe-to-pick method?
Barcode scanning helps reduce the rate of missing items by up to 50% and time required to pick orders by up to 40%, which leads to improved customer experience and overall more efficient picking experience.
How to scan a barcode instead of swipe-to-pick?
When you try to swipe on an item instead of trying to scan an item (with an associated barcode in the system), you will be asked to ‘scan to confirm the item’. For more details, follows the steps below:
How can I scan items in multiple quantities?
To scan items in multiple quantities, you need to:
Swipe the item
Scan the item’s barcode.
Input the quantity required.
Once quantity is confirmed, the item then moves to the “Picked” section on the Order Picker.
What happens, if I scan unsuccessfully?
If you try to scan a barcode from the order details screen, but it is unsuccessful, you will still be able to swipe to pick, and you will not be asked to try to scan the item again. To troubleshoot, try one of the options below:
Option 1: Manually enter the barcode.
Option 2: Confirm you have the correct item by tapping ‘I have the exact item’.
Option 3: Tap on ‘unable to pick’ and depending on the options for that item, you will be taken to select a substitution or the item will be removed.
What happens, if an item (or a bundle) is without a barcode in the system?
If you swipe to pick an item (or a bundle) that doesn’t have a barcode associated with it in our system - you will not be asked to try scanning. Instead, try one of the options below:
Option 1: Confirm you have the exact item.
Option 2: Substitute or remove the item by tapping on ‘Unable to pick’.
