You can add dietary tags to your menu items, so customers can have more information when ordering from you.
Dietary tags can be added at two levels:
Item-level for specific menu items
Menu-level for your entire menu
This article details how to apply item-level tags. Please contact support via Hub for any questions related to menu-level tags. Please note that dietary tags may differ in each market. Finally, please note that these are not allergy tags but should be used consistently with the allergens present in the menu item you should tag and the relevant allergy policies must still be followed.
Here’s a list of the item-level dietary tags you may be able to use, and what they mean:
Dietary item-level tag | Definition |
Vegan | A food item that contains no animal products and is cooked with no cross-contamination with non-vegan items. |
Plant-based (Vegan Friendly) (not available in all markets) | A food item that is vegan but may have been produced in the same space as non-vegan products, so it may not be suitable for strict vegans/people with allergies. |
Vegetarian | A food item that doesn’t contain meat or fish, but may contain eggs or dairy. |
Dairy Free | Any food item that doesn’t contain dairy products, e.g. milk, cheese, cream, milk powder, etc. |
Gluten Free | Any food item that doesn’t contain gluten. |

Halal (not available in all markets) | Halal means ‘permissible’ in Arabic. In the Quran there are many stipulations for what is considered permissible and impermissible for consumption.
