We’re introducing updates to how menus and item pages appear in the Deliveroo app.
These updates are designed to make menus more visual, easier to browse and clearer for customers to choose from. As the experience becomes more image-led, strong food-first hero images and clear item images can help your menu appear at its best.
What’s changing?
You may notice updates to how your menu and item pages are displayed in the app.
Store Page
Menus are becoming more visual and easier to browse.
Customers may see updates to menu headers, promotional banners, carousels and item sections. These changes are designed to help customers spot dishes and explore your menu more easily.
Item Page
Item pages are becoming clearer and more food-focused.
Customers may see updates to how item information, options, modifiers and add-ons are displayed. These changes are designed to help customers understand dishes before they choose.
Note: Images shown are for illustrative purposes only and will be localised by market.
Do I need to do anything?
As menus become more visual, we highly recommend reviewing your hero and item images to make sure they clearly represent your food and display well across the app.
However, no mandatory action is required for this update. Your existing menu setup will stay the same, including how you manage menu information, items, modifiers and bundles in Menu Manager.
Why do images matter?
Menus and item pages are becoming more image-led, which means images may appear more prominently across the menu experience.
Strong, food-first hero images and clear item images can help customers understand your dishes and make your menu easier to browse.
Where possible, use images that are:
food-first, with the dish as the main focus
clear and high quality
accurate and representative of what customers will receive
simple, without text-heavy graphics, watermarks or busy backgrounds
suitable for different crops or aspect ratios
For full upload requirements, including file type, minimum dimensions and rights guidance, see the Menu Manager photo upload guidance.
What is a hero image?
A hero image is the main image that appears at the top of your menu or Store Page.
Hero images may appear differently across the app as the experience rolls out. During the transition period, hero images may need to work across two layouts:
16:9 — current Store Hero image ratio, also used on Home
3:2 — new Store Page Hero image ratio
Images that keep food centred and avoid placing key details close to the edges are more likely to display clearly across both layouts.
How should I choose hero images?
To help your hero image work well:
use a food-first image rather than a logo, storefront or graphic
keep the main dish or food content near the centre of the image
avoid placing important details too close to the edges
avoid adding text, logos, watermarks or promotional messages into the image
choose an image that still works if cropped horizontally or vertically
How should I choose item images?
Item images should help customers quickly understand what they are ordering.
Where possible:
show the full dish clearly
use natural, appetising food photography
avoid unclear close-ups or heavy filters
make sure the image matches the item description
avoid showing items that are not included in the order
When will customers see these updates?
These updates will roll out gradually from June 2026.
Not all customers will see the same changes at the same time, and the experience may continue to evolve as updates are tested and refined.
Will Deliveroo help add or improve images?
Yes. We’re introducing new ways to improve image coverage across your menu, helping more items appear with clear, useful photos.
Stock Images: We will use stock images from our image library to fill gaps across drinks and condiments, helping more of your menu appear with images without extra upload work from you.
Image Rescue: Some previously rejected images may be improved and reused, helping turn previous uploads into menu images without asking you to start again.
Image Mapping: Images may be reused for matching menu items, helping make your menus more consistent where the same items appear across more than one menu.
You’ll stay in control of your menu images. If images are added or updated, you can review and remove them in Menu Manager.
To upload your own photos or check image requirements, see How to upload your own photos in Menu Manager.
Will Deliveroo change my menu content?
No. This update changes how your menu may appear in the app. It does not change the menu content you’ve set up in Menu Manager.
Your existing menu setup and tools will remain the same.
