Imagine showcasing a mouth-watering breakfast spread in the morning and switching to an enticing dinner scene in the evening, all tailored to your customers' needs. This isn't just about pretty pictures; it's designed to make your menu more relevant, help boost customer engagement, and help drive more orders.
Choosing your hero images
As menus become more visual in the Deliveroo app, your hero images may appear in different placements and crops. Hero images may need to work across two layouts:
16:9 — Store Hero image ratio, also used on Home
3:2 — Store Hero image ratio to be tested
For best results, choose food-first images with the main dish or food content centred. Avoid text-heavy graphics, large logos, watermarks or important details close to the edges, as these may not display clearly across different app placements.

How to Set Up Your Multiple Hero Images
Ready to get started? Follow these simple steps in Menu Manager:
Step 1: Access Your Menu Photo Editor
Click the “edit” button located on top of your current menu photo.
Step 2: Add New Photos
Click the “add photos” button to upload new images. You can also click the secondary buttons within each panel to upload photos that can be set as a ‘Timed Menu Hero Image’, a ‘Custom Hero Image’, or a ‘Default Hero Image’.
Step 3: Upload Your Images
Click “upload photos” to add one or more photos from your device to your menu.
Step 4: Save Uploaded Photos
Once your photos are uploaded, click “Save”.
Step 5: Select Image Type
Click on the more icon (usually three dots) on the image you've uploaded. From there, you can decide if you want to set the image as a ‘Timed Menu Hero Image’, a ‘Custom Hero Image’, or a ‘Default Hero Image’.
Step 6a: Set as Timed Menu Hero Image
If you choose ‘Timed Menu Hero Image’, select the specific timed menu you have already created (e.g., your breakfast menu) and click “save”.
Step 6b: Set as Custom Hero Image
If you choose ‘Custom Hero Image’, select the specific times and days you want that image to appear (e.g., every Friday evening) and click “save”.
Step 7: Confirm Your Settings
Once you've configured your image settings, press the “Confirm” button.
Step 8: Publish Your Menu
To make these exciting changes live for your customers, you must publish your menu using the “Publish” button. Your hero images will then go through Deliveroo’s review process before going live.
Step 9: Your Photo is Live!
That's it! Your new hero image(s) are now live and ready to captivate your audience.
