What is a Change of Ownership?
Sold or bought a restaurant, grocery or retail site on Deliveroo? You'll need to submit a Change of Ownership (COO) request so we can update our records. To protect both parties, we follow strict rules on what documentation we can accept.
What you'll need
Signed legal ownership document (e.g. sale agreement, lease, franchise agreement, TR1, or tenancy agreement)
The site's Restaurant ID(s)
New company's registration number, VAT number (if applicable), and e-TIN (Ireland only)
The process
Request the COO form via the Help tab in Partner Hub, or call us on +44 20 7138 9037 (UK & NI) / +353 (0)1 526 8611 (IE).
Submit the form with your legal ownership documents.
We review and verify. If we can't verify your documents, we may contact the previous owner, or help you set up a new account instead.
Complete identity verification and sign a contract.
Get Partner Hub access, update your bank details, and start receiving orders.
Typically takes around 10 days - we will need to speak with you on the phone number and/or email address provided to discuss your request. The biggest delay is not hearing back from merchants, so please reply promptly.
Proving the change of ownership
Examples of accepted documents: sale/purchase agreement, lease/sublease, franchise agreement, TR1 form, or tenancy agreement.
Documents must be:
Complete - no missing pages
Dated - within the last 12 months
Signed - by both buyer and seller (where relevant)
Names and address that match our records and the identity checks
Not accepted: screenshots, Word documents, handwritten notes, letters, invoices, bank statements, Companies House documents, credit applications, or insurance documents.
No qualifying documents? Ask about a Deliveroo COO Agreement instead, it transfers ownership by consent without a separate sale/lease document. If that's not possible, we'll help set the site up as a new account.
What this means for the previous owner (seller)
We'll always contact you when a COO is submitted for your site, and may ask you to verify your identity and confirm the change.
Only verify your identity or confirm this change if you recognise and expect it. Not sure, or didn't agree to it? Don't proceed — contact us via Partner Hub first so we can check it's genuine.
Payments during the transfer
Payments continue to the current owner's account until the COO is approved, unless you select 'Hold Payments' on the COO form. Once paid, we can't redirect, reimburse, or recall a payment.
Once the COO is complete, submit a Change of Bank Details (COBD) request via the Help tab in Hub — this is subject to our approval and verification before you can start receiving payments to the new account.
