Before sending images, make sure they meet the requirements below:

Understand the two image types

There are two types of images in Menu Manager. They have different purposes and sizes.

1. Hero image

  • Appears at the top of your menu page

  • Shows a selection of products

  • Must use a 16:9 ratio (landscape)

2. Menu item image

  • Appears next to an individual product

  • Shows one specific product

  • Is cropped to a 1:1 (square) ratio in the app

Using the wrong ratio (for example, uploading a 16:9 hero image as a product image) may cause cropping issues or poor image quality.

Image requirements

All images must meet the following four requirements:

  1. Product layout and placement

  2. Aspect ratio and size

  3. File specifications

  4. Legal ownership

1. Product layout and placement

Hero images (16:9)

Hero images showcase your range.

  • Include 10–15 products to show variety

  • Products must take up approximately 70–90% of the image area

  • Leave only a small margin around the edges

  • Use a clean, simple background

  • Avoid overcrowding

Logo use:
You can add your logo on the left-hand side. This is optional but recommended.
Do not overlap the logo with any products.

Do not include:

  • Hands or faces

  • Watermarks

  • Text overlays

  • Raw ingredients

  • Collages or heavily edited images

Menu item images (1:1 square crop)

Menu item images should clearly show one product.

  • Only one product per image

  • If the product is sold as a multipack, show the full pack (e.g. 4 beers if sold as a 4-pack)

  • The product must be well-framed, taking up approximately 70–90% of the image area

  • Centre the product

  • Ensure the front and top of the packaging are clearly visible

  • Use natural lighting

  • Avoid reflections and dark shadows

  • Ensure the full product is recognisable after square cropping

Tip:
Avoid laying items flat. For bottles, cans and packaged goods, a slight side-on angle works best.

2. Aspect ratio and size requirements

Images must meet the minimum size requirements below.

Hero images

  • Minimum size: 1920 x 1080 pixels

  • Must be 16:9 ratio

  • Landscape orientation

Menu item images

  • Minimum size: 1200 x 800 pixels

  • Will be cropped to 1:1 (square) in the app

For all images:

  • Ensure the whole product is in frame

  • The image must be in focus

  • No visible grain or blur

If an image does not meet these requirements, it may appear distorted or cropped incorrectly.

3. File specifications

All images must:

  • Be saved as JPEG (.jpg) files

  • Be labelled with the correct product name

We cannot accept:

  • PNG

  • TIFF

  • PSD

How to check image format

On Mac

  1. Locate the image

  2. Right-click and select “Get Info”

  3. Under “More Info”, check file format and dimensions

On PC

  1. Open File Explorer

  2. Right-click the image

  3. Select “Properties”

  4. Open the “Details” tab

  5. Check image format and dimensions

4. Legal ownership and rights

You must own the images you upload and have the rights to use them.

We do not accept stock images sourced from search engines or stock websites.

You are responsible for any claims relating to intellectual property infringement linked to images you provide.

We reserve the right to remove any images that do not meet these guidelines.

Before sending your images

  • You’re using the correct image type (Hero vs Menu item)

  • The product fills 70–90% of the image

  • The ratio and size are correct

  • The file is JPEG

  • You own the rights
