The Restricted Item policy applies to all partners, in all markets, listing on the Deliveroo platform.

  1. What is the Restricted Items policy?

The Restricted Item Policy provides clear guidelines on the types of products that our Partners cannot list for sale on the Deliveroo platform.

2. What are the classifications of restricted items?

All restricted items are now falling into one of four categories, which includes: ‘prohibited’, ‘restricted’, ‘unsupported’, and ‘invite only’.

Prohibited Items’ - these are products that partners are strictly forbidden from listing under any circumstances. This is due to the following reasons:

  • Illegality: Items that are illegal to sell, possess, or use in the relevant market.

  • Safety concerns: Items that are faulty, unsafe, or have been recalled.

(UAE, Kuwait, Qatar & Singapore partners): This includes any products that require a government-issued licence to possess, sell, or distribute, where such a licence has not been obtained or verified by Deliveroo.

Restricted Items - these items are legal to sell in the market and can be listed on the platform, but they are subject to specific restrictions or controls. These may include:

  • Whitelisting: Partners require additional approval from Deliveroo before listing.

  • Tagging: Specific labelling requirements when partners upload the item to their menu.

  • Quantity Restrictions: Limits on the maximum quantity that can be sold.

  • Age Restrictions: Sales limited to consumers of a certain age.

  • Document Review: Submission of documentation to prove compliance with legal requirements for listing certain items.

Unsupported Items - these are items that, while legal to sell in the market, are not permitted on the Deliveroo platform due to business decisions, which may include but are not limited to brand and safety concerns.

Invite Only - there are some items that you are only able to listsell if you have been given permission by Deliveroo

3. Why is the Restricted Items Policy important?

As Deliveroo continues to expand the variety of products available through our platform, we aim to enhance consumer choice and provide our partners with increased opportunities for revenue generation. However, it is crucial that all products posted to the platform by partners adhere to our Restricted Items policy to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards.

This policy is designed to protect consumers from exposure to illegal or non-compliant product listings and to uphold the integrity of our platform.

By adhering to these guidelines, we ensure that our marketplace remains safe, lawful, and in alignment with both local and international regulations. This commitment to compliance not only safeguards consumers but also supports our partners and us at Deliveroo in maintaining a reputable and legally sound business operation.

4. How are Restricted Items identified and removed from the platform?

To ensure compliance with the Restricted Item policy, we involve multiple teams and technologies to identify and remove the restricted items from the Deliveroo platform and review this on a regular basis.

5. What happens if partners violate the Restricted Items policy?

Deliveroo has a zero tolerance approach to partners listing illegal or highly dangerous items. In addition to the violating item(s) being removed from the platform, partners who violate the policy will be subject to suspension or, in some cases, permanent removal from the platform.
