Learn how to ensure age restricted products, like alcohol and tobacco, are correctly tagged in your menu

Why it's important to tag age restricted items correctly

If you list age restricted products on Deliveroo it's your responsibility to make sure they are correctly tagged as “age restricted products”. Age restricted items vary by location, but will include alcohol and tobacco.

You can update your menu in Menu Manager and it's essential age restricted items are accurately tagged.

Our system uses the 'age restricted' tag on menus to see which orders need age verification checks on delivery.

When these age restricted items are tagged properly, it prompts riders to carry out legally required checks when they deliver your orders to customers.

If your menu items aren't correctly tagged, our riders may not conduct age verification checks - in many countries, these checks are required by law.

Tagging age restricted items in Menu Manager

When you list age restricted products on Deliveroo using Menu Manager, it's your responsibility to ensure they are correctly tagged as “age restricted products”

We accept no responsibility for any failure to implement age verification processes in respect of products that you have not correctly tagged as age restricted.

Here’s how to tag your products:

1. Log in to Partner Hub

2. Navigate to the Menus tab on the left hand side of your screen

3. Select your active menu(s) by clicking ‘Edit Menu’

4. Select an item that is age restricted, scroll to the bottom of the item and you will see the following question:

Is this alcohol, or another age-restricted product?

5. Select ‘Yes’ and Save, or ‘Yes’ and Add Item for new items

6. Repeat for all age-restricted items

This applies to all age restricted items.

In the image above you can see that the system is asking if the item contains alcohol or if it is any other age-restricted product, like tobacco.

Tagging age restricted items if you can't access Menu Manager

If you provide menu updates directly to Deliveroo, you must clearly mark age restricted items on the menu you submit to Deliveroo.

Please mark these items every time you submit a menu to Deliveroo so that our team can tag them accordingly.

We accept no responsibility for failing to implement age verification processes for sales of age restricted products you submit that are not correctly marked.
